DIY Mango Butter

I love a good self care night ✌🏾 but after finding out that my husband is in fact allergic to my precious Shea Butter, my one true love (don’t tell him I said that), then I had to look for alternatives in all of my skincare, body and hair care. I was SICK! Especially because I pride myself in doing thorough research on all of the products I put in and on my body, to make sure that I make the most educated decision for myself and my family, which is why I was diying my whipped shea butter ever since Naptural85 debuted her recipe. She also did a Mango butter recipe, which I tried and loved back in college so I figured I’d make my own from scratch. Here’s the recipe below!

INGREDIENTS
2lbs mango butter
8oz cocoa butter
Corn starch/arrowroot powder
Vitamin E oil
Essential Oils (I used Bergamot, ylang ylang, vanilla, and lavender)
Oven
Hand mixer
Air tight glass jars
Large oven safe mixing bowl

You can find all of the ingredients on my Storefront!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees while you gather materials. Place both butters in an oven safe mixing bowl and put the bowl in the oven so the butters melt. No need to put a timer, just watch it until it’s melted. Once melted, remove from oven and add in the vitamin E oil. Add a little bit at a time so that your butter isn’t super greasy, unless you like the glazed donut look. Your choice ✌🏾 But if it”/ too oily, add in more corn starch. Then add in the essential oils of your choice. Roughly 10-20 drops of each should do the trick for the scent to be potent. (I like to make a plan batch in case I give some away or have guests with allergies, etc., make a batch that smells really delicious, and then another batch that is vanilla lavender combo because it’s the best for post baths at night.) With hand mixer, mix all the butters and oils until well combined. Carefully pour into labeled jars and let sit in the fridge. Mine came out hard, which isn’t a problem because I use a mug warmer that I plug in the bathroom to melt the butter down. If you want more of a whipped feel, use about half of the cocoa butter and let the butters cool down a bit before mixing. I just like the healing/scar fading effects of it and it smells so good.

Use this to luxuriate after a long bath and you’ll be in heaven! Comment below what other scent combos you love!
